Map Object: The Snake Pit

This is a slight variation on an object I did for Kepli's "Temple Plane" map that appeared within Dragon Roots Magazine Issue #1. Enjoy! Grey

The Snake Pit

"One…Two” Ahhh-blood is rushing to my head. I don't even think I was born upside down. If I get out of here I will have to ask me mum. "Three-Four” Stay focused. Man that rope hurts.
How did I know she was the King's daughter. I got to admit this is a great deal though, only six snakes the King said, and I will get her fancy. I mean she is gorgeous, those long legs, autumn hair, and that smell of lavender. I can still smell it heavy on the air. "Ah!" Steady everyone while I reach again. "Ah...Five". What a plan, going for the small ones is much easier to handle with one hand. Almost there sweetheart, I see you smiling. Steady...stea...stea…here comes number..."Achoo!"

Falling... ah a little venom never killed any...wow dizzy now..."Six!" There she is...looking down at her hero...she is...is...just got keep my eyes open...she is clapping? Damn it!

Module Review: Rumble in the Wizard's Tower (Rated PG13)

WFF - Rumble in the Wizard's TowerRumble in the Wizard's Tower

When Goodman Games released their new line of Wicked Fantasy Factory d20 adventure modules over a year ago, I was a bit curious. I've got quite a few of their classic adventures because I find them easy to modify and fit into my campaigns. They're excellent starting points with good foundations.

But the covers I saw were dripping with blood and the WFF logo invoked images of a corny Wrestle Mania knockdown. So it took a quasi-good review and a $2 cover price for me to buy their introductory module, Temple of Blood.

It wasn't so much the adventure itself that intrigued me as their new player's rules. Goodman Games has created this new line of adventures around a number of simple rule enhancements designed to turn any dungeon crawl into a back ally free-for-all.

So then I went and bought the first complete module, Rumble in the Wizard's Tower. This module was FUN to read. This is intelligent writing with a basic setup but designed to make the most of the WFF rules. There's one scene that is just laugh-out-loud funny, and THEN they give you ideas to make it even better.

Map Series: Southern Outlook
Featuring Maps by our newest contributor: Cisticola and Flavor Text by dDemonicAngels

When the turret tumbled into the violent surf below the Southern Outlook, few people noticed and fewer people cared. But news eventually reached the Acajur city council and a courrier was sent to the chapterhouse of the Komalier Knights in the Fomian foothills. No response was expected because of the poor relations the knights had experienced in the past few years.

But when a sizeable section of the sea wall nearly capsized the Whispering Tradewinds, the council had to take action. Unfortunately, with the outlook stricken off limits by order of the King, there was little the council could do. A second courrier was dispatched requesting the order's Father Superior appear before them with a plan for the outlook.
